Hogwarts Legacy Director Says There Are “No Current Plans” For DLC
No more stories or quests for now.
Despite the commercial success of Hogwarts Legacy, developer Avalanche Studios has no current plans of releasing DLC for its wizarding RPG anytime soon. Speaking to the IGN Fan Fest, game director Alan Tew said that the studio was busy preparing Hogwarts Legacy for its full release last week and they had no time to work on additional content.
Now that Hogwarts Legacy has been out for a while, many players have had time to finish the full game and are wondering whether it will receive more content soon. However, they will be left disappointed for now, as Hogwarts Legacy director Alan Tew claimed that there is no additional content currently in the works, saying, “We’ve been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life, so at the moment there are no current plans for DLC.”
It should be pointed out that Alan Tew’s statement does not mean Avalanche Studios won’t be supporting Hogwarts Legacy post-launch, as the game has already seen a number of updates that revolve around bug fixes and performance issues. It also may sound disappointing that Hogwarts Legacy won’t receive additional content anytime soon. However, it is comprehensible that Avalanche had no time to work on DLC or expansion, given the amount of content included in the game.
Hogwarts Legacy received a positive reception upon its launch, with the game peaking at 879,308 players on Steam, giving it the most concurrent player count for a single-player game behind Cyberpunk 2077. The Wizarding World RPG also broke records for the most streams of a single-player game with 1.28 million during its early access launch. What’s more, Avalanche Studios and Sony have released a Hogwarts Legacy-themed DualSense controller decorated with the golden motifs of Ancient Magic.
In our Hogwarts Legacy review, we said, “Attending classes, taming beasts, exploring Hogwarts, and learning new spells could keep you occupied for hours, but it’s nowhere near a groundbreaking experience. If you strip the Harry Potter IP away from Hogwarts Legacy, you’re just left with another standard RPG that we’ve seen countless times before.” Hogwarts Legacy is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
