The cast members include Natsuki Hanae, best known as Tanjiro from Demon Slayer and Falco Grice from Attack on Titan.
The production house of Masamune-kun’s Revenge R has announced that the anime’s second season has been delayed by three months due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19. Originally set for a release in April, the upcoming season is now scheduled to begin sometime in July.
The production committee reexamined the streaming schedule for Masamune-kun’s Revenge R anime, saying that they had to delay the premiere of the second season due to the spread of COVID-19. Crunchyroll simulcast the first season as it aired in Japan back in 2017 for international audiences. The streaming platform previously announced plans to simulcast the second worldwide. Fans can also find the first season on Funimation with an English dub.
Miku Ito and Yasayuki Kase join the cast of the second season as Muriel Besson and Frank Besson, respectively. Fans will recognize Miku Ito as Grete in Spy Classroom and Miku Nanako in the Quintessential Quintuplets TV anime. Yasayuki Kase, on the flip side, is best known for his role as Kano Ashido in Bleach, Falco in Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and Morgans in One Piece. The cast members of Masamune-kun’s Revenge R anime also include Ayaka Oyahashi (Akame ga Kill), Natsuki Hanae (Demon Slayer), and Asuka Ogame (Black Clover).
Masamune-kun’s Revenge R is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Hazuki Takeoka and Tiv. The manga first launched in Monthly Comic Rex magazine in 2012, ending its series run in June 2018. Shortly after, Takeoka and Tiv launched a spinoff manga in the same magazine, which ended in January 2019. It tells the story of an overweight child named Makabe Masamune, who is bullied by one particular girl, Adagaki Aki. Makabe begins a regime of physical transformation and self-improvement to exact his revenge on her.
Any specific return date for the new season has not been given yet. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in North America, which fans can now read in the English language. The production of various other animes has also been halted due to the effects of COVID-19 since last year, including Misfit of Demon King II, Bofuri, and Saints Cecilia.
