PowerWash Simulator has confirmed the exact release date of its Nintendo Switch and PlayStation ports, and developer FuturLab now revealed that a Tomb Raider DLC pack will be available for all owners of the game at no additional cost, following the ports’ launch on January 31. The DLC will allow players to clean various areas within the sprawling Croft Manor, more of which will open up as they progress through each of the five levels.

PowerWash Simulator is currently only available on PC and Xbox platforms, but FuturLab announced PlayStation and Switch versions back in September 2022. A release date had been reported on a few weeks ago due to a PlayStation blog post, however, PlayStation ended up deleting it. This blog post had stated that the PlayStation version was to release on January 30, so that one-day difference may have been the issue that needed to be reverted. PowerWash Simulator will be playable on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

There is one slightly unfortunate piece of news that came with this announcement, however. In the FuturLab press release that revealed the Tomb Raider DLC, the studio confirms that crossplay will not be available for Switch and PlayStation players for the game’s prolific co-op mode. It will only be available between Xbox and PC owners, as it is currently.

The first inception of PowerWash Simulator was a free Itch.io demo that FuturLab released back in 2020. CEO James Marsden explained in an interview that the team had originally been thinking of making a more action-packed first-person shooter, but, due to the rise of what he called “cozy games,” and due to his wife’s interest in watching power-washing videos for pleasure, the team had the idea to turn their ‘shooter’ into PowerWash Simulator.

The demo received a lot of positive reactions. FuturLab later released the title in early access via Steam in 2021 and finally dropped the full version on July 14, 2022, with the support of publisher Square Enix. The game only got more and more popular with time, with many players praising its calm and satisfying gameplay. PowerWash Simulator currently sports over 28,000 reviews on its Steam page, which are described as “Overwhelmingly Positive.”
