Xbox Confirms Developer Direct Showcase For Later This Month
Xbox and Bethesda have confirmed a special developer direct showcase for later this month, but fans shouldn’t expect Starfield to appear.
Xbox and Bethesda have confirmed that a special developer direct showcase will take place on January 25th, featuring the likes of The Elder Scrolls Online, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, and Redfall.
A report from Windows Central had previously hinted at a possible showcase from Xbox, but the event has now been officially confirmed via a newswire post on the official Xbox website. The post highlights the aforementioned games to appear during the show, but also informs fans that Starfield will be absent from the show, as the previous report initially suggested.
“To dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive into Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield, a standalone show is in the works”, the newswire post confirmed. Exactly when the special showcase for Starfield will take place was not specified by Xbox. Currently, Starfield does not have a firm release date, but Todd Howard has previously stated that it won’t be launching in the first half of 2023.
Although the lack of Starfield is sure to disappoint Xbox fans, there will be brand-new gameplay from the four previously mentioned titles. The showcase will be presented by the game creators themselves, from studios including Arkane Austin, Mojang Studios, Turn 10 Studios, and ZeniMax Online Studios.
Xbox says that the showcase will focus on “big features, extended gameplay showcases, and the latest info for Xbox games launching in the next few months.” The newswire post confirms that Redfall will showcase several minutes of gameplay, including both single and multiplayer footage. Whilst The Elder Scrolls Online will unveil the next major chapter update for 2023.
The showcase from Xbox and Bethesda will take place on January 25th at 12PM PT / 3PM ET. Fans eager to watch live can tune in on the official YouTube and Twitch channels of either Xbox or Bethesda.
