The King Of Fighters XV Confirms Next DLC Fighters Sylvie Paula Paula And Najd
Fan-favorites from KOF14 return
SNK has revealed the next two characters who will join The King of Fighters XV in its second season of DLC. Sylvie Paula Paula and Najd were both shown off at the end of a new trailer released for the forthcoming character Shingo Yabuki. These two newest characters are scheduled to be added in Summer 2023.
KOF XV’s second season of DLC had been announced back in November 2022, with the first two characters for it revealed as Shingo and Kim Kapwhan. This newest trailer confirms that Shingo will be added on January 17, and will include a bonus costume based on his classic outfit from older KOF titles. Kim is scheduled to be added in the Spring of this year, with the just-revealed Sylvie Paula Paula and Najd following in the Summer. The roadmap posted by SNK also confirms that cross-platform online play for KOF XV will be implemented sometime between the Spring and Summer DLC releases. SNK had previously confirmed that it would hold an open beta test for the cross-play at the same time Kim would be added to the game.
Sylvie Paula Paula and Najd, the two newest DLC characters to be revealed, both hail from the previous game in the series, The King of Fighters XIV. Sylvie Paula Paula was part of the starting roster for that game, figuring prominently into the overall story of KOF XIV. Najd, meanwhile, was a DLC for that game just as she is here, added in April 2018. Notably, Najd was designed by university student Mashael Al-Barrak, who submitted the design as part of a contest held by Manga Productions for Middle-Eastern KOF fans.
As a DLC character in KOF XIV, Najd did not actually have any story content of her own for that game. As KOF XV has included some Story Mode content for its DLC characters and teams, it remains to be seen if this will allow Najd to be more fleshed out than she had been previously. Sylvie Paula Paula, meanwhile, has the potential to follow up on elements of the story she played a key role in back in KOF XIV, possibly alongside characters from that game who already returned in KOF XV, such as Antonov.
SNK’s posts of the Season 2 roadmap for KOF XV show that there are still two more DLC characters to be revealed. The characters, set to arrive in Autumn and Winter 2023, do have silhouettes for them shown off already, teasing fans as to which KOF characters might be making a comeback in this latest round of DLC for the game.
