The Vexations Of A Shut-In Vampire Princess Anime Announced For 2023
The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess is officially getting an anime in 2023. The announcement was live-streamed at the GA Fes 2023 event on Thursday. Along with the announcement, the anime’s official website also released a teaser trailer and visual, and announced cast and staff for the upcoming series.
The anime is based on the light novels of the same name. Written by Kotei Kobayashi and illustrated by Riichu, The Vexations of a Shut-In Princess was first released in January 2020. As of October, the series had nine volumes, all published by SB Creative. The 10th volume will begin shipping on January 25.
In December 2021, Riichu launched a manga adaptation of the light novels in Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine. Riichu also drew a vibrant illustration to accompany the announcement of the series. After a few years of light novels and manga, it makes sense that the series is now growing into an anime and all eyes will be on Tomoyuki Shitaya as he brings Riichu’s characters to life on our screens.
The newly released teaser trailer is just long enough to show us that the anime will follow the same plot that fans know and love. After awakening from her three-year slumber, shut-in vampire Terakomari Gandesblood (Komari for short) discovers that she’s been promoted to commander of the army, but her army is notorious for refusing to follow her commands. Additionally, her hatred for blood has made her weak and incompetent at magic setting the stage for her to step up to the plate and show everyone what she’s made of.
A partial cast list announced along with the release of the trailer includes Tomori Kusunoki as Terakomari Gandesblood, Sayumi Suzushiro as Villhaze, and Yōko Hikasa as Karen Helvetius. Project No.9’s Tatsuma Minamikawa is directing the series and Keeichirō Ōchi will be in charge of the series composition. Demon Slayer’s Gō Shiina will be composing the music.
