Pocket Card Jockey is heading to Apple Arcade with a new subtitle and 3D visuals.

Prior to the closure of the 3DS eShop later in March 2023, GameFreak has announced that it will bring one of its cult classic non-Pokemon games, Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!, to Apple Arcade with a worldwide release on January 20. The game will be available via the subscription service with a new subtitle and 3D visuals for racing sections.

At the start of December 2022, GameFreak had filed a trademark for Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!. The good news is that the racing game will be upgraded visually, as it features revamped racing sections that have been reworked in 3D. They clearly look better than the 2D version that was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013 in Japan. IOS and Android versions of the game followed in 2014 worldwide.

According to GameFreak, the core gameplay will remain intact while upgrading the graphical fidelity for an immersive racing experience. Keep in mind that the dual-screen feature won’t be available as it was in the original game. The bad news is that this enhanced version won’t release on Nintendo Switch. Pocket Card Jockey is one of the few non-Pokemon games developed by GameFreak for the Nintendo 3DS, the other being the action thriller HarmoKnight.

Pocket Cars Jockey: Ride On! combines solitaire and horse racing to put racers in a position that determines the difficulty of their solitaire rounds. As players clear more cards, their horse will be strengthened to charge energy during races. Players can also level up their horses, learn new skills, and improve their performance by collecting special cards while racing. Additionally, if players prepare for future races, they can take the steeds they have grown on the racetrack and pair them up on the farm.

The trademark that has been registered by GameFreak in December 2022 is now confirmed not to be related to a sequel to the classic RPG-racing game, as some had previously speculated. In case you missed out, Nintendo will close the Wii U and 3DS eShops later in March 2023, meaning you will no longer be able to buy digital games on Nintendo’s legacy platforms.
