Best Pieces Of Cut Content

Anyone who’s played even a few hours of Elden Ring knows that the game is packed to the absolute brim with content. Amazing enemy and level design, unique loot, and intriguing side-quests are everywhere, seemingly impossible to avoid! This is, of course, a large reason for Elden Ring’s resounding success.

And so, it would appear, the developers used every asset they had available! Except, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Despite the downright staggering amount of content in Elden Ring, there is still so much more we are missing. Also keep in mind that the game is relatively new, and fans have likely been pretty busy actually playing the game instead of searching for scrapped content, so there is certainly more to come! Here are the coolest pieces of cut content in Elden Ring.

5/6 Dream Collecting

A quest line as unique as it is intriguing, the Dream Collecting side-quest, is a piece of cut content that all Elden Ring fans should be very sad they are missing. This massive piece of cut content involved traversing the Lands Between, literally collecting dreams from sleeping creatures. The list includes typical wolf enemies, land-octopi, and much more!

The quest was discovered in a test build of Elden Ring from 2021, but perhaps it would be better if this information never leaked, because the sheer amount of “stuff” scrapped from the game is downright depressing. A Monk merchant NPC, a unique item used to capture “dream mist,” and cryptic dialogue are just a few of the many aspects of this quest that were cut from the game. But, who knows? Maybe this wildly intriguing questline will one day make its way to an expansion pack where it can be truly appreciated.

4/6 Covenants

Believe it or not, Elden Ring was originally supposed to feature several covenants, which players could make the choice to one to align with. This is significant because covenants played quite a large role in previous Dark Souls games, especially in PVP.

Some have speculated that covenants will still make a return in Elden Ring, especially with the upcoming release of the game’s PVP Colosseum DLC. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the role this mechanic would potentially play in Elden Ring, but It’s safe to assume that the scrapping of covenants came with the loss of many NPCs and questlines.

3/6 Vyke’s Quest

Every Elden Ring player knows who Vyke is, it’s just a question of whether they know him by name or not. Vyke is the lone knight featured on the official cover art for Elden Ring, and he actually does make an appearance in game! Though, his screen time and utility are quite limited.

However, through intensive data mining, players have discovered that there was originally an entire questline initiated by Vyke! Although there are no subtitles to accompany it, there is cut dialogue for the soldier, in which he mentions a knight of “melted armor.” Presumably, Vyke’s quest would have involved a search for this nameless character and, well, you can imagine what happens from there.

2/6 The 7th Ending

It is fairly common knowledge that Elden Ring features six unique endings, all of which require a long series of convoluted tasks in order to activate. All of these different endings result in an alternate cutscene that leaves the player both more confused, and more intrigued, than before. But if there are only six endings, why are there seven cutscenes?

Data miners have located a 7th, unused cutscene that is fully animated and voiced, resulting in almost fool-proof evidence that there were plans to include yet another secret ending. What exactly the requirements for activating this hidden ending were, nobody quite knows. However, the cutscene is available online for all to watch. Maybe you can be the one to decipher it!

1/6 Loads Of Armor

Of all the entries on this list, this one is the most likely to actually be added to Elden Ring in some future update. Elden Ring already features an immense amount of armor sets, but data-mined game files reveal that there were going to be even more sets originally!

The list of cut wearables includes the Millicent armor set, the Brave armor set, the Golden Prosthetic, and much more! What is more fascinating is the fact that every individual piece has a fully finished in-game description. All item descriptions even fit right in with the game’s lore! All in all, it is pretty safe to say that sooner or later, we should see some of these awesome sets added to Elden Ring!
