Breaking Down The Berserker

Haklangr doesn’t have a wide variety of attacks, but what he lacks in variety, he makes up for it in relentlessness. His attacks hit hard, and just a few can end your fight quickly. For this reason, you might find it useful to bring a resurrection stone with you to this fight. Then again, that could be said for all of the berserker fights. Haklangr’s attacks will vary between red-ringed and yellow-ringed moves. Yellow-ringed attacks cannot be blocked, but they can be parried. Use your block just before you’re hit, and you’ll parry away an attack. Attacks with a red ring cannot be interrupted, blocked, or parried. For these moves, you simply need to dodge out of the way.

Haklangr’s Charge

If there’s enough distance between you and the berserker, he will close the gap by charging you. This attack has a red ring, so you want to roll out of the way as fast as you can.

Haklangr’s Overhead Strike

When up close, the berserker will raise his hammer above his head to strike down at you. This attack has a red ring, so you must dodge out of the way. If you don’t, he’ll clobber you. He will sometimes use this move after a series of spinning strikes or a sideswipe, so look out for those moments.

Haklangr’s AOE Poison

The berserker will sometimes raise his hammer into the air with a red ring, and green smoke will surround him. This is an area-of-effect attack that will both harm you and inflict the poison status effect. Your only option here is to dodge or run out of the smoke before the attack goes off.

Haklangr’s Sideswipes

The berserker will occasionally use his hammer to come at you from the side. Sometimes these are normal spinning strikes, which can be blocked. Other times you’ll see the yellow ring, which means you need to parry the attack or dodge out of the way.

Haklangr’s Aerial Assault

You should see a yellow ring when the berserker jumps into the air. This means he’s about to charge down at you. The options here are to try and dodge this attack or parry him as he gets close.

Managing The Magic Armor

When Haklangr summons his magic armor, the health bar will turn orange, blue, or grey. This signals that each color is weak to one of your weapons. The grey bar is weak to your spear. The blue bar is weak to your Blades of Chaos. The orange bar is weak to your Leviathan Axe. Hitting his armor with the right weapon will wear it down very quickly, so you can get back to damaging Haklangr outright. He will typically summon this armor two or three times during the fight.
