**This post contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man anime and manga.**The Devil Hunters have been through a lot in the recent episodes of Chainsaw Man, especially Division 4, which has lost most of its members. Aki manages to survive, but he becomes weak after the battle with Katana Man, as he is left with only two years to live, and his contract with the Fox Devil has become void. Now, Aki is only left with the contract with the Curse Devil, which is not enough to take his revenge on the Gun Devil.
Kurose and Tendo try to convince Aki to leave the organization and live a peaceful life, but he denies their offer. Then, they convince him to at least make a contract with a stronger Devil, so he can survive the coming battles, to which he agrees. They take him to the Devil holding facility of the bureau, where the Future Devil is currently residing. Finally, episode 10 ends with a small introduction to the Future Devil.
Introduction To Future Devil
The Future Devil was first introduced in the 31st chapter of the manga and the 10th episode of the anime series. The Devil resembles a tree a lot, with multiple branches and vines hanging from its body. It grows two large horns on its head and has an open mouth. The center of its chest looks like a tree hollow, but the Future Devil has a big eye inside it. The outward stretching hands of the Devil look exactly like that of a human.
The Future Devil is known to have a jolly nature, but it considers too much of itself, always bragging about how the future is the best. The price that needs to be paid in order to form a contract with the Future Devil is quite hefty.
As for Aki, the Future Devil made a contract with him on the condition that he (Aki) would live inside its eye. Its contract with the other two Devil Hunters asked the one to give up half of their lifespan, while the other had to give up both of their eyes and sense of taste and smell.
Powers And Abilities
As the Future Devil, it possesses the power to see the future. The people who make contracts with the Future Devil are able to see four or five seconds into the future. Although the ability to see the future might be fruitful in some cases, sometimes the person can’t reflect on what they see. For instance, while fighting the Ghost Devil, Aki sees the future where the Devil is overpowering him with its attacks, but Aki can’t do anything instead of waiting to get attacked. So. in order to use the Future Devil, a person needs quick decision-making and instant reflexes. The large hole in the Future Devil’s chest is used to tell someone’s future when the person inserts their head inside it.
