Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Launches In April 2023
Capcom has announced that Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection will launch for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on April 14, 2023. Players can now pre-purchase the much-awaited bundle for $59.99 to receive additional skins and music tracks at launch. Digital versions of the bundle, Vol.1 and Vol.2, can also be purchased separately for $39.99.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection includes all ten mainline games in the series, as well as online versus, Battle Chip Trading, and Download Chips that were previously available in Japan. Masakazu Eguchi, the director of the Battle Network series, went on Capcom’s YouTube channel to reveal what extra features are being added to the collection. Starting from online functions, players can join private matches to compete against friends by entering a room code, as they can also play ranked matches with NetBattlers to climb up the leagues.
The NetBattle menu includes three new game modes: Practice, Real Thing, and Triple Battle. These allow players to enjoy casual games, win Battle Chips from the loser’s backpack, and dive into a series of matches in a mini-tournament format, respectively. Furthermore, Battle Chips Trading has been added to the Trade menu, which enables players to exchange Battle Chips with NetBattlers from all over the world. It has also been confirmed that all Download Chips available for the original version will be included in the upcoming collection.
The developer team stated that they had to re-write the game’s code for a fluid action experience since the games in the collection are based on their Japanese version. It has also been assured that the English versions will have content equivalent to the Japanese versions. “After finishing the game, when you select the ‘continue’ option, the tense music from the game’s ending kept playing. We’ve corrected this so that when you continue immediately after finishing the game, the normal music is played instead.” Masakazu Eguchi spoke up about adjustments in a press release.
There will also be the Custom PET Pack DLC as a pre-order bonus, which includes special skins and four new songs that can be playable in the music player. To celebrate the release of the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, Capcom will release the first two seasons of the MegaMan NT Warrior animated series on YouTube and Twitch in early 2023.
