Luna Abyss Exclusive Gameplay Trailer Reveals Intense Bullet-Hell Sequences
The new Luna Abyss gameplay trailer showcases bullet-hell sequences and action-packed combat set on Luna, an extremely dangerous mimic moon. Based on the exclusive trailer, the upcoming shooter will come with a fast-paced gameplay formula that will encourage players to dash and dodge as they try to avoid the barrage of enemy attacks in difficult battles.
Bonsai Collective’s debut title will invite players to take the role of a prisoner whose punishment is to face the forgotten dangers of a mysterious structure buried deep in Luna. The new trailer offers a glimpse into the game’s world and its Lovecraftian inhabitants. Based on the title’s Steam page, Luna Abyss will have players “fight twisted cosmic horrors in intense, fast-paced, bullet-hell combat.” The title will also complement its bullet-hell gameplay with a mysterious narrative, where players will have to “discover a vast, derelict colony; deep within the belly of an ominous mimic moon.” Throughout the mission into the Abyss, the players will be supervised by the “artificial prison guard, named Aylin.”
As they take the role of a desperate prisoner forced to explore the ancient alien ruins, players “recover forgotten technology from within the Abyss and the lost colony it consumed” and depend on their platforming skills during their exploration. The trailer video reveals the diverse landscapes of the moon, forcing the wanderers to traverse using a wide array of methods like creating frozen platforms out of thin air and using ropeways between hills and mountains. Alongside its Lovecraftian creatures, the alien moon is also home to strange characters like Waif and Otis.
Announced back in August, Luna Abyss is a narrative-driven, bullet-hell shooter that is slated to arrive on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The developer has not provided a release window for their curious debut title yet. That being said, those who would like to immerse themselves in bullet-hell shooters will have another alien planet to dive into in early 2023; Housemarque’s award-winning bullet-hell and roguelike Returnal will make its debut on PC in the first months of the next year.
If that doesn’t cut it, do keep an eye on the newly-announced Scars Above, another alien action-adventure title set on an extrasolar planet. And finally High on Life is now available on Xbox Game Pass to scratch that alien-shooting itch. It features a rather humorous take on the concept instead of testing players with brutal bullet-hell sequences like Luna Abyss.
