Control 2 Announced, Will Be Co-Developed By Remedy Entertainment And 505 Games

Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that a sequel to Control is officially in the works and will be co-developed and co-published with 505 Games.


Mikael Kasurinen, the Game Director of the Control Franchise, said in a new statement that the studio is ready to “take another leap into the unknown” with Control 2. Kasurinen also confirmed that the project is still in the very early stages of development, so it’ll be quite some time before we see the sequel hit the shelves.

“Remedy Entertainment (“Remedy”) has signed an agreement with 505 Games, an international video game publisher and a subsidiary of Digital Bros Group, under which Remedy and 505 Games will co-develop and co-publish Control 2 (formerly known as Codename Heron), a sequel to Remedy’s award-winning game Control”, a separate investor statement from Remedy confirmed.

Remedy’s statement goes on to announce that the budget for Control 2’s initial development amounts to 50 million euros, and despite the co-development with 505 Games, Remedy will “retain the ownership of the game’s intellectual property”. According to the studio, the development, marketing, and post-launch investments as well as the future net revenues generated by the game will be equally split between 505 Games and Remedy.

“We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together. Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies,” Rami and Raffi Galante, Co-CEOs of 505 Games said in the announcement.

Control 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S and will be built on Remedy’s Northlight engine and tools. The sequel will be published by Remedy on PC and 505 Games for current-generation consoles. The studio confirmed that the newly announced sequel is still in the concept stages of development.
