Modern Warfare 2 sees the return of weapons like the MP5 (Lachmann Sub), the M16, the RPK, and even the Scar-H, which is now called TAQ-V. The M4 also makes its return to Modern Warfare 2, and much like the M4A1 in Modern Warfare, it performs as the jack-of-all-trades weapon in the multiplayer mode. The M4 is a gun that many will recognize, and by progressing through its weapon tree, you can unlock the 556 Icarus, the M16, the FTAC Recon, and the FSS Hurricane. But exactly how good is the M4 in Modern Warfare 2?

The M4 is an Assault Rifle that proves to be a versatile weapon, performing exceptionally well in most gameplay scenarios. The gun shines when used in mid-to-long-range engagements but still holds up remarkably well when used in close-range gunfights. The M4 has an average aim-down sight speed, a fairly high and consistent damage output, and a quick reload for the base build. New players do not need to grind the game all too much to unlock this gun, as the M4 is already available for all players once they gain access to Custom Loadouts upon reaching Level 4.

Perks

The following perks are great for players who like to be fast and aggressive and prioritize keeping themselves off the enemy’s mini-map. We have chosen perks like Fast Hands to counter the slower reload speed brought on by 45-ROUND MAG and Scavenger. Here is the full list of perks that you should consider using on this setup:

Double Time Double the duration of Tactical Sprint. Increase crouch movement by 30%
Scavenger Resupply ammo and throwing knives from dead players
Fast Hands Reload, use equipment, and swap weapons faster
Ghost Undetectable by UAVs, Portable Radars, and Heartbeat Sensors

Secondary

You do not have to worry too much about your choice of secondary weapon, as the Scavenger perk will eliminate the need for a weapon swap. Therefore, consider carrying a launcher, preferably one that is capable of taking out enemy killstreaks such as UAVs. The PILA, Strela-P, and Jokr are all viable choices for keeping the airspace clear and your teammates off the mini-map.

Field Upgrades

Dead Silence and the Portable Radar are the go-to Field Upgrades for this setup. The Portable Radar is great for revealing players on the mini-map within a certain radius, so prioritize placing them within flank routes, key choke points, and even objective zones where enemies may come from. Dead Silence is great for keeping a low profile, allowing you to silently flank or rush enemies and catch them by surprise.
