In this guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know about how to get the best out of Mona, from builds and weapons to her best team compositions.

Best Builds & Artifact Sets

Mona is equally capable of acting as a main DPS or Support. She will have very different stat priorities and artifact sets depending on which role you select. Mona’s ascension stat is Energy Recharge, and it increases her Hydro Damage by 20% of her Energy Recharge stat. If you are using Mona as a support, you will be building for ER anyway, but if you are using her as a Main DPS, it is not worth looking for ER on Artifacts to improve this bonus, as you will get more value from Crit and Attack values. Regardless of role, Mona’s most important talent to level is her Elemental Burst. If you decide to use her as DPS, you will also need to level her Normal Attacks.

Best DPS Set – Heart Of Depth

This set is great for DPS Mona in a Vaporize team. The 2-Piece Set Bonus gives a 15% Hydro Damage bonus, while the 4-Piece Set Bonus increases Normal and Charged Attack damage by 30% for 15 seconds after using her Elemental Skill.

When farming for his set, you should look for the following main stats on these specific pieces:

  • Sands: Attack %
  • Goblet: Hydro Dmg
  • Circlet: Crit %, Crit Damage %

Emblem of Severed Fate and Wanderer’s Troupe are also both viable options for 4-piece sets to support DPS Mona in Vaporize teams.

Best Support Set – Noblesse Oblige

This is the best set for Support Mona. The 2-Piece Bonus gives a 20% damage bonus to Elemental Burst Damage, while the 4-Piece Set Bonus increases the whole party’s Attack by 20% for 12 seconds after she uses her Elemental Skill.

When farming for his set, you should look for the following main stats on these specific pieces:

  • Sands: Energy Recharge
  • Goblet: Hydro Dmg, HP %
  • Circlet: Crit % or Crit Damage %, whichever you need more

Best Weapons

With Mona’s dual role in mind, we’ll look at her best options for both DPS and Support.

5-Star Weapons

Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds and Skyward Atlas

These two 5-Star Catalysts are Mona’s best weapons for pure DPS. They are the most consistent options for Mona’s different DPS teams (Vaporize, Electro-Charged), but note that the Widsith, below, can outperform them when its passive is active.

4-Star Weapons

The Widsith and Favonius Codex

The Widsith is Mona’s best DPS option at 4-stars. It has a very unique mechanic that triggers a random buff for 10 seconds after this character enters the field. Each of the buffs is very powerful, and that can make the Widisth Mona’s best DPS weapon if you are able to time your rotations to take advantage of her damage while the buffs are active.

Favonius Codex is Mona’s best 4-star Catalyst when she is acting as Support. The Energy recharge it gives enables her to use her Elemental Burst as often as required, and it can also benefit the rest of the team.

3-Star Weapons

Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers

Support characters can often make use of 3-star weapons for their particular needs, and TToDS is one of the most common options for catalyst users. At Refinement Level 5, this book gives a massive 48% Attack buff to the next character you swap into. This should only be taken for Support Mona, as it has low damage.

Mona Best Teams

5-Star team – Freeze

Mona acts as Support in this team. You can run exactly the same comp with Ayaka as the main DPS instead of Ganyu.

Character Character Role and Benefits
Ganyu Main DPS
Mona Support: Applies off-field Hydro damage, Omen damage buff from her Elemental Burst, and can hold Tales of Thrilling Dragon Slayers to buff damage.
Venti Sub-DPS: Groups enemies to aid DPS and does large Swirl damage to them.
Diona Support: Provides shields, Healing, Energy Recharge, and additional Cryo application if needed.

To get the best out of this team, use Venti to group enemies up and then use Ganyu’s Elemental Burst. Then apply Mona’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst, and finally start unleashing Charge Shots with Ganyu. Enemies should remain almost permanently Frozen while you deal huge amounts of damage. Just remember, some enemies and Bosses cannot be Frozen, which will reduce many of the synergies and some control and damage of this build.

4-Star Team – Vaporize

Mona’s Vaporize team, in which she acts as the main DPS, is all 4-stars and quite F2P-friendly.

Character Character Role and Benefits
Mona Main DPS. Uses her attacks to vaporize the Pyro element.
Bennett Support. Heals applies Pyro and provides Attack buff.
Xiangling Sub-DPS: Applies off-field Pyro damage
Sucrose Support: Swirls Pyro onto enemies and shreds RES.

To enable Mona’s DPS, make sure the enemies are affected by Pyro and ideally use Sucrose with the 4-Piece Viridescent Venerer set to shred their Resistance. Mona can then use her Elemental Burst and Vaporize the Pyro element with her Normal and Charged attacks for huge damage.
