How To Get The Blossoming Assassin Armor

0

In Grounded, armor goes a long way while venturing the yard. Upon defeating the Mantis boss, players can craft the Assassin’s Armor set from bits and pieces of the Mantis’ body. The set itself is fixated on critical hits, most importantly Crit Bleed. Crit Bleed makes enemies bleed whenever they’re hit with a critical hit. This notable feature of the armor also has a bonus, the Critical Chain, which increases the probability of critical hits on every next attack.

The Mantis boss is an aggressive, large creature that lurks within a flowerpot. The Mantis has a lust for bloodshed and won’t hesitate to kill the player. The Mantis is found in the orchid flower pot inside the shed porch. Players can access this area by traversing the hose that leans against the pot.

Defeating the Mantis

This boss fight comes in 3 phases, each with different attacks and various patterns to watch out for. It’s important to note that the Mantis is resistant to Busting, Chopping, Explosive, Slashing, and Stabbing.

Phase 1

As players enter the pot, the Mantis will drop from above – if the player is close to where the Mantis falls, they won’t take any damage. The Mantis will attempt to single-swipe the player with its claws, unleash a charged hit, and a combo slam. Every once in a while, the Mantis will back away and lunge backward from the player to create a gap – this part of phase 1 is imperative to watch out for because right after the Mantis does this, it will lunge forward again, crashing into the player and dealing devastating amounts of damage.

Phase 2

Phase 2 will ensue when the player has depleted the Mantis’ health down to 80% – it will simultaneously unleash a screeching scream that will lower the player’s health and exhaustion recovery time. The Mantis will hop around in the flower pot and unleash pollen shots. These pollen shots will create clouds whenever the player is hit with them, which also causes the player to slow down – they last for roughly 30 seconds. The Mantis will follow up with aggressive combos, trying to rip the player apart with its claws. Just like the beginning of phase 2, the Mantis will and can scream multiple times and at the most spontaneous times, which deals damage like before.

Phase 3

Phase 3 begins when players have depleted the Mantis’ health down to 50% give or take. The Mantis will create more pollen shots than before. The Mantis will also spawn several vertical shockwaves when the player is both far away or close by. This specific attack is devastating, and it’s imperative to dodge these shock waves as much as possible.

When the Mantis is defeated, it will drop 7-10 Mantis Chunks, 2 Mantis Claws, 1 Mantis Head, and more rarely, a Mantis Trinket. Everything the Mantis drops can be used to craft the Assassin Armor. However, with each component of the armor, besides Mantis parts, will require other crafting materials such as Pupa Leather, Pond Moss, and Lint Rope.

Lint Rope is crafted from Lint found on the doormat of the shed. Pupa Leather is crafted from Pupa Hide – Pupa can be found within the canyons as well as underneath the deck of the Shed area. Harvesting Pupa will require players to use either the Scythe of Blossoms, the Termite Axe or the Sour Battle-axe. Pond Moss can be found inside the moat in Moldorc Highlands, puddles near the Stump, and the Undershed Sinkhole. In order to craft the Assassin Armor, players will need to acquire 10 of each of these three materials, as well as defeating and looting the Orchid Mantis after defeating it.
