Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the biggest anime movie of this year, recently got its theatrical release in the US. With more than 498,000 tickets sold on its debut weekend, the movie topped the Japanese box office, making a total earning of around ¥670 million (in the first week).
Super Hero is an exceptional movie because it shifted its focus from Goku and Vegeta to Gohan and Piccolo. Witnessing the new powerful forms of Goku and Vegeta is something we all are used to seeing. But, the transformation of Gohan is quite rare to see in Dragon Ball.
Changes In Appearance
Beast Gohan, sometimes referred to as the Final Gohan, is a state he unlocks due to Old Kai’s Unlock Ability. Akira Toriyama shared that the name results from the awakening of a beast inside of Gohan.
Right after the transformation starts, Gohan’s eyes start to flash rapidly and will remind you of his Super Saiyan 2 form. After the complete transformation, his eyes become red with black pupils, and his hair turns light gray, similar to Goku’s Perfect Ultra form. Gohan Beast form retains a spike hairstyle with one bang falling to his face. A mix of purple, pink, white, and blue aura surrounds him in the Beast form with a fierce look on his face.
How Powerful Is The Gohan Beast Form?
The state of rage is what unleashes the new forms in the Saiyans, and Gohan’s Beast Form is no exception. After Piccolo’s death at the hands of Cell Max, Gohan gets so angry that he maxes out his limits and obtains the new form. While promoting the movie, Akira Toriyama himself confirmed that Gohan’s Beast Form is stronger than anyone else. Now, we can assume that it might be a stunt to promote the movie. But, Piccolo also confirmed that he considered Gohan’s new form to be the strongest one, even before he fully transformed.
After transforming, Gohan easily competes with Cell Max, whom he could not withstand earlier. He easily and quickly destroys Cell Max’s massive energy sphere and his core using the Special Beam Cannon attack. If Gohan’s Beast transformation is truly as magnificent as the creators are selling it, then it’s far superior to any of Goku’s or Vegeta’s forms we have seen in the series till now.
