The next Dragon Age confirmed as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

The next Dragon Age, aka Dragon Age 4, is now Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. BioWare confirmed the name earlier today in a brief Twitter message while also dropping a couple story details in its blog.

The story of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will revolve around a man named Solas, also called the Dread Wolf. It’s a little on the nose, er, snout. Solas is clearly a mysterious figure in Dragon Age lore. Called a “betrayer of his people,” a “savior,” or a “trickster deity,” the guy is known for a lot. And not all of it seems to be good.

“Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not,” reads the BioWare blog post. “Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games.”

Just the beginning

BioWare is aiming for approachability with Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The blog states that the game will be welcoming to all players, regardless of their Dragon Age experience.

“Whether you’re new to Dragon Age stories or you’ve experienced them all, using Solas’s namesake no doubt suggests a spectrum of endless possibilities on where things may go,” reads the blog post. “But at the core of this, like every past game, is you.”

The post mentions that while the game isn’t scheduled for this year, more reveals are on the way before 2023. Back in February, BioWare promised more updates on the game. The post suggests, however, that we won’t hear more from the studio this summer during any big game hullabaloo. So those of you waiting for Geoff Keighley to jump on the stage to show off more, you’re likely out of luck.
