Genshin Impact just got a new Web Event this May 26 ahead of the launch of Version 2.7, this time focusing on Yelan – Here’s our guide to help you clear To Ensnare a Prey.
To Ensnare a Prey is a pretty simple mix between the usual clicker game-inspired Web Event and a crime mystery. After Yelan speaks with several characters, we’re asked to review the information she gathered and pick the right culprit for the case she’s investigating.
How to Play To Ensnare a Prey
You can access the Web Event on this page here. As usual, make sure you’ve logged into the right server: double-check that your character’s name is displayed at the top left of the screen. Click the start button to begin.
This event features Yelan as she gets hired to investigate an info leak case at Liyue’s Ministry of Civil Affairs. After a quick intro, you will be handed out a summary of the case and its clues so far. Click the “Share to gain more information” button and the yellow button to copy the event’s link to your clipboard. As usual with Genshin Web Events, you don’t actually need to share the link. Close the window and the event will continue, with Yelan meeting several clients and informants.
After that, you’ll be introduced to each of the sub-menus of the Event. You first have to click “Case Files”, and then “Conversation Records” to check the information Yelan gathered and find the culprit among the characters she met. The Web Event will help you out by bolding important words, and you’ll have to click each one of them.
Once you’ve clicked the bolded words, they’ll turn red and the number of Suspicious Points will increase. When you’re done with a character, click the arrow at the right of the window to move on to the next character.
Once you’re done going through all the information, it’s time to find a culprit. Go back to the profile of the character whom you believe is guilty, and click the “Identify the Suspect” button.
Who is the true culprit?
Greedy Treasure Hoarder turns out to be the culprit as he’s most notably the only character Yelan met who is trying to hide something. He’s the sole person saying nothing has happened in the Chasm’s mines recently and is clearly lying:
Primogems and Rewards
Once you’re done clearing the event, you’ll receive 40 Primogems in-game, along with some materials that will help ascend Yelan if you plan to pull her. As usual 40 Primos is a really low amount – that’s less than what you make after a day of dailies – but it’s better than nothing especially if you’re a pure F2P player.
Event Schedule
To Ensnare a Prey will last until May 31st. This isn’t a time-sensitive event so even if you play it on the 31st you’ll be able to clear it.
