The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Releases September 1st for PC and Consoles
The upcoming story-driven stealth adventure game The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will launch on September 1st 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The Nintendo Switch version will release sometime later in 2022.
Will Gollum or Smeagul take charge?
The game is based on The Lord of the Rings books by J.R.R. Tolkien. This time focusing on Gollum’s side of the story in the first chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring. The adventure takes place after Gollum loses his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins. In order to regain what is his, he leaves the Misty Mountains and takes him on a perilous journey that goes from the dungeons of the Barad-dûr to the realm of the Wood-elves in Mirkwood.
From the Misty Mountain to Mirkwood
In true Gollum fashion, he will use his sneaky demeanour and cunning to avoid the dangers of Middle-earth. But the dangers outside aren’t the only challenges that this creature has to face in The Lords of the Rings: Gollum, he also has his own inner struggles with his hobbit-self Sméagol. It will be up to the player whether they want Gollum to succeed in making some major decisions, or allow Sméagol to be the one taking control. Expect to encounter well-known characters from the books as well as some new ones.

This isn’t the only title currently being developed based on the LOTR series. Recently Electronic Arts revealed they were working on a mobile turn-based RPG called The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on September 1st 2022. A physical edition will also be available for consoles.
