Valorant Might Get a Map-Ban System With the Tournament Mode
During the recent Ask Valorant session, the developers revealed that they would consider adding a map pick/ban system to Valorant with the upcoming Tournament mode.
It didn’t take long for Valorant to become one of the most popular first-person shooters in the industry since its launch. The game soon turned into a huge trend among content creators, streamers, and gamers, of course.
That being said, Riot Games has many plans up ahead for further improving Valorant, and fans are pretty excited about the game’s future.
Recently, there was an Ask Valorant session, where players could ask their burning questions from the developers about the current state of the game and future plans, and the answers to these questions revealed some important info on the upcoming features of the game.
Riot Games Will Explore a Valorant Map-Ban System in the Tournament Mode Before Its Launch
When a player asked whether Valorant would receive a map pick/ban system in the future, the developers made it clear that they didn’t have such a plan for the current competitive game mode, however, they would like to explore this option in the upcoming Tournament mode. While it is a work-in-progress project, the developers believe that a map pick/ban system could be a good fit for Tournament, but nothing is guaranteed yet.
Looking at the current competitors of Valorant in the industry, such as CSGO and Rainbow Six Siege, they both feature a map pick/ban system in competitive modes, which allows players to try out their pre-planned strategies on their favorite map rather than spending time in random maps.
This becomes even more important when a game is supposed to receive esports events. Thus far, Valorant has only had Twitch Rivals as esports tournaments, but regarding how many pro players are interested in this project, it’s not surprising to see the game getting its own esports tournaments with official teams and sponsors in the future.
Valorant is now available for free on PC.
