Vampire The Masquerade Swansong

Vampires crave blood, and in Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, you’ll have a persistent hunger for it. But how do you reduce it?

At the top of your screen in Swansong, you have two status bars. One’s an energy meter, and the higher this one is, the better. The other is your blood hunger level, and the lower this one is, the better. You’re a vampire, and so of course you need blood to thrive. But how do you reduce your hunger level in Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong?

How to reduce your hunger in Swansong

There’s a few ways to reduce your hunger, but one is more important than others -and that’s drinking some blood. To do that, you need to feed on a mortal.

Thankfully, it’s fairly easy to do. First, you need to find a safe room. Most areas have at least one safe room, and it’ll be marked with a symbol at the top of your screen when you enter in. Then, you need to find an unsuspecting victim. Walk up to a non-story related NPC, and you’ll be given a prompt to suck their blood.

Press triangle (Y on Xbox), and you’ll begin a short cut scene followed by a QTE. You need to hold down the right trigger to feed off them, but the trick is to stop before you drain their blood entirely. Killing them will eventually raise suspicions, making your job much harder.

Occasionally, a story-related mission or challenge may reduce your hunger level in Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, too. For example, correctly answering Halsey’s riddles in the party investigation mission will reduce your hunger level. And sometimes, doing well on a confrontation challenge will have the same effect.

Finally, you may pick up some consumable items that reduce your hunger. Press your menu button then toggle over to ‘inventory’. Hold down X (A on Xbox) to use an item.

Why do you need to reduce your hunger in Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong?

Keeping your hunger level in check is an important part of Swansong. A big part of the game is undertaking confrontation challenges, whereby you need to convince an NPC of something, or generally ‘win’ a conversation. And many options will increase your hunger.

If you don’t have enough hunger points remaining, it will block out any options you can’t afford, limiting the way you can progress.

So: keep a check on your meter, and if it starts getting too high, perhaps think about finding a human to feed on. Just don’t kill them!
