Coming this Year, Spirittea Sees You Making Friends and Solving Spooky Problems – GameSpew

Spirittea

We’re rather looking forward to getting our hands on Spirittea, and not just because it looks like a fun little life sim.

Primarily, we’re dying to learn (a) what kind of thundering idiot leaves a cursed teapot lying around; and (b) what kind of moron drinks from it. We hope Spirittea comes up with a plausible reason as to why this blunder occurred, otherwise we’re going to spend the first five minutes berating our customisable protagonist.

But, as someone who can see ghosts (thanks to the teapot), it’s up to you to help them solve their problems in this upcoming title from Cheesemaster Games and No More Robots. Given the tone of the trailer you can all but guarantee you won’t be going around digging up dismembered corpses. Instead, you’ll be engaging in Spirited Away-style shenanigans such as getting a gigantic tiger spirit take a bath.

On top of that, there’s cooking to take care of, managing the bathhouse you’ve somehow acquired and getting along with the residents of your rural village, living and dead alike. There’s even karaoke and, while we doubt it’ll be quite as flashy as Yakuza’s mini-games, we have our fingers crossed we’ll get to sing with some spooks. There’s even a floating cat, though we’re don’t want to think about the logistics of getting it to use a litter tray.

Spirittea is set for a PC and console release some time this year. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.
