Alan Wake Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch

If there’s one thing the Nintendo Switch lacks, it’s broody writers fighting off shadowy figures. Thankfully, that’ll change soon.

On Thursday, Remedy announced that Alan Wake Remastered is coming to the Nintendo Switch. While there isn’t a firm launch date yet, the game’s release window is sometime this fall. Also, there’ll be no physical edition, as Alan Wake Remastered will only be available digitally on the eShop. It’ll also run natively on the console, so none of the dreadful cloud edition business.

Alan Wake initially came out on the Xbox 360 back in 2010. Despite being a console exclusive at the time, it didn’t see much success, probably because it launched within spitting distance of Red Dead Redemption. Regardless, Alan Wake became a cult classic over time. The remastered edition came out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC recently as well.

While the first Alan Wake isn’t full-on survival horror, there are spooky undertones for sure. It’s a fantastic psychological thriller set in the pacific northwest. I won’t reveal anything else plot-wise beyond that, but anyone that loves Stephen King novels or Twin Peaks should check this out.

It’s worth revisiting, too, since Alan Wake 2 is in production. Remedy is also working on remakes of the first two Max Payne games.
