With full crossplay and cross-progression included in that, there’s never been a better time to log in and race some bean boys.
In this guide we’re going over a few essential tips that’ll help you get ahead when racing, or undertaking any other challenge, in Fall Guys. Follow our advice below and you’ll get a victory crown soon enough.
Grabby hands
You don’t have many moves to perform in Fall Guys, but grabbing is one of them. You can grab objects or other players, and this can cause all sorts of havoc. Being grabbed, or grabbing others, can massively throw off your momentum, causing either one of you to stumble and roll around on the ground helplessly. This can be a powerful tool in the right hands, so choose when to use it wisely.
Dive of destiny
Diving will carry your momentum forward in the air. It’s simple. Instead of short jumps, you’ll be able to execute much longer ones, crossing gaps a short jump simply can’t. You’ll get a boost of speed while in the air, but you’ll fall to the ground and will have to climb to your feet once you land, so be careful when diving.
It’s not a race (except when it is)
Getting ahead of the crowd is usually a good idea, except for when it’s not. Some of the games and races you’ll come across require a safe path to be deduced, and in those situations, it’s always better to let someone else figure out what that path is. Getting first place is cool, but totally unnecessary. By the same token, fall behind too far during a race and you won’t be happy struggling to keep up.
Follow others
We mentioned that clear path, and it’s important to put that path to memory in many stages. If you’re playing a new stage, then it might be a good idea to follow someone else. If you see a player managing to dodge all the obstacles and get ahead, it’s probably a good idea to copy their strategy.
Defensive maneuvers
If you’re playing a team game it’s tempting to just race straight to whatever target you have to go after, but many of these team games also require defending your base. When chaos is erupting, don’t let the enemy team raid your base and take all of your points away. It’s just as important as attacking their base.
Jumping down, not up
When jumping in Fall Guys, you will be pushed off the floor, parallel to the slant on the floor. On flat ground, you will shoot straight up, but while on a slant, you will be pushed away from the angle of the floor. This means jumping while ascending a small hill will actually push you away from the hill, slowing you down. On the flip side, it also means jumping while going downhill actually gives you more speed, but can make you very unstable, especially when there are a lot of other players pushing against you for a position. As long as you don’t fall over, jumping while going downhill is worthwhile.
Skip the stage
Almost every stage has some kind of cheeky skip you can make use of to get ahead of everyone else. They’re all different for each stage, and we have more Fall Guys stage tips to help you along, but you should watch other players, and perhaps even a few YouTube videos, to get a good idea of where you can skip each.
Kudos at no cost
You can purchase Kudos, but you really shouldn’t. Play the game with friends for a few hours and you’ll soon start racking up the Kudos, removing the point in paying for it. Yes, it might be a convenient way to quickly buy a new cosmetic, but you can earn them entirely by playing, no need to spend your hard-earned money just yet.
