343 Industries Says it’s Working on “Brand-New Projects”

Halo Infinite didn’t quite hit the way 343 Industries and Microsoft would have hoped it would, and it seems the studio is ready to begin winding down support for the shooter- or at least start taking the initial steps in that process, with 343 Industries having announced that Halo Infinite won’t receive any new seasons going forward, instead adopting an Operations model.

So what exactly does that mean for 343 Industries’ future plans? Well, as you would expect, the developer has turned its focus to new games in development, as confirmed during a recent community livestream by senior community manager John Junyszek.

“We have a dedicated team working on supporting Halo Infinite and continuing to deliver new content going forward, but also, yes, we have additional teams that are accelerating towards the future, working on brand new projects,” he said. “There are a lot of things cooking here.”

In January last year, it was reported that amidst widespread layoffs, 343 Industries had all but hit the reset button, as part of which the studio had allegedly scrapped its internal Slipspace engine in favour of Unreal Engine 5 for the development of future projects. More recently, LinkedIn profiles of current and former 343 Industries employees also suggested that the developer had a new Halo game in development on Unreal Engine 5.
