10 Best Remembrance Weapons, Ranked

0

FromSoftware’s biggest strength in their titles has been exceptional boss fights. While Elden Ring’s are quite strong, they have the benefit of handing you a powerful rune that adds a passive boost, but also the choice between an incredibly strong weapon and gear setup as well. While all are more than viable in their own way, the top handful of remembrance weapons are among the best Elden Ring has to offer.

That said, many of them are wildly different. Some excel in scaling or status infliction, while others have a great Ash of War on an otherwise okay weapon. Knowing how to form your build around a weapon is just as important as what that weapon can do.

10 Dragon King’s Cragblade

The Dragon King’s Cragblade is one of the items obtained after defeating Dragonlord Placidusax in Crumbling Farum Azula. It is a heavy thrusting sword that scales with Dexterity (albeit rather poorly). It is a lightning weapon that does strong physical damage like most heavy weapons. Its real benefit lies with its Ash of War.

The Thundercloud Form Ash of War transforms the user into a cloud that attacks from a longer distance for as long as the attack is held. It can be canceled and has great poise, making the attack almost impossible to interrupt. Its big downside is the poor scaling and a finicky hitbox with the Ash of War.

9 Marika’s Hammer

elden ring marika's hammer

Marika’s Hammer is one of the items obtained after defeating the Elden Beast at the very end of the game. You will be rewarded with a solid hammer that can be used well as both a two-handed powerstance weapon or a one-handed weapon while using a shield. Its Ash of War, Gold Breaker, deals high damage in a big AOE slam, but it is very slow and difficult to pull off in both PVP and PVE.

Even with that said, Marika’s Hammer is still one of the better hammers in Elden Ring, and it may be worth trying just to get a good feel for the weapon class as a whole. The weapon scales rather poorly with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith. Sadly, Marika’s Hammer isn’t even the best weapon available from beating the Elden Beast.

8 Morgott’s Cursed Sword

Morgott’s Cursed Sword is a curved Greatsword that scales poorly with Strength and Arcane and just okay with Dexterity. Its Arcane scaling does benefit its great passive bleed buildup (60), which is one of the higher ones in Elden Ring. Bleed being as powerful as it is in Elden Ring gives Morgott’s Cursed Sword enough of a use case to warrant running through the rest of the game once you have it.

It has a unique skill, Cursed-Blood Slice, which slashes horizontally in a wide pattern that hits for good damage and bleed buildup. Its biggest drawback is its slow attacking speed. Morgott’s Cursed Sword can be acquired after defeating Morgott, the Omen King in the Leyndell, Royal Capital.

7 Hand Of Malenia

The Hand of Malenia is available after defeating the most frustrating boss in the entire game: Malenia, Blade of Miquella. It’s a katana class weapon that scales okay with Dexterity and deals passive bleed buildup. While the buildup (50) is not as ideal as Morgott’s Cursed Sword, the weapons’ faster attack speed and better Ash of War make it a better offer.

Its Ash of War, Waterfowl Dance, attacks at an insane speed similar to Malenia’s regular attack pattern. It swipes rapidly in a wide range and can melt single enemy bosses very quickly or deal with larger crowds in dungeons just as well.

6 Sacred Relic Sword

The Sacred Relic Sword is the other weapon obtained after defeating the Elden Beast. While Marika’s Hammer is a slow, heavy damage hammer class weapon, the Sacred Relic Sword is a magic focused Greatsword. It scales with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith, though all are about as disappointing as Marika’s Hammer in that regard.

While it doesn’t have the damage output that Marika’s Hammer does, the Sacred Relic Sword’s Ash of War, Wave of Gold, attacks in a wide swipe that covers a massive area with a magic attack that can clear entire waves of enemies and even assist with rune farming. The weapon itself is strong, but the general lack of good options with Faith builds may incentivize you to look elsewhere.

5 Starscourge Greatsword

elden ring starscourge greatsword

The Starscourge Greatsword is one of the better heavy class weapons in Elden Ring. It can be obtained after defeating Starscourge Radahn. As a colossal sword, it deals terrific physical damage, and even a decent option for magic damage. Its scaling is unfortunate, but is one of a few melee weapons that scale with Intelligence, but its steeper Strength requirement will make it difficult to fit into magic builds until late game.

Its Ash of War, Starcaller Cry, pulls enemies in from a distance with a gravity AOE effect and then slams down for great damage. The Ash of War is incredibly slow and will be difficult to pull off in any engagement where it would be useful.

4 Carrion Regal Scepter

Carian Regal Scepter in Elden Ring

The Carrion Regal Scepter benefits from not only being one of the best staffs in the entire game. Early on in its upgrade path, it benefits from a rare S Intelligence scaling. It has a passive boost to all Full Moon Sorceries, of which there are a handful of great Sorcery options. Two of its biggest features are somewhat lackluster depending on your needs.

It doesn’t offer the highest damage output for staffs, but does conserve FP the best of the top tier staffs in the game. In the earlier game, conserving FP is a great benefit, but by the late game, you should be opting for damage output instead. The staff’s Ash of War, Spinning Weapon, spins the weapon in a rapid close-range attack that looks cool but lacks real utility. The Carrion Regal Scepter can be obtained after defeating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon in the Raya Lucaria Academy.

3 Maliketh’s Black Blade

Maliketh’s Black Blade can be obtained after defeating Maliketh, the Black Blade. Like the Starscourge Greatsword, it is one of the better colossal swords in Elden Ring. It scales similarly with Strength, but also having Faith scaling gives it that extra oomph. It offers similarly great physical damage but benefits from having a stronger Ash of War. Destined Death, is a multi-hit AOE strike that works great for crowds and fast-moving bosses.

The attack drains health over time and even reduces the enemy’s max health bar. This effect is nice, but is mostly impactful when fighting invaders in PVP. Regardless of your situation, it’s one of the best heavy class weapons in Elden Ring.

2 Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear

elden ring mohgwyn's sacred spear

Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear is a high physical damage Great Spear that has among the worst scaling of any remembrance weapon in the game. It does scale with Arcane, which aids in its bleed buildup, and strong range. Its Ash of War, Bloodboon Ritual, deals a massive AOE attack that causes bleed buildup and can be spammed repeatedly with little downtime.

This is one of the better Ashes in Elden Ring with just the attack, but it also adds fire damage to its base attacks after its use. Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear is easily the best Great Spear in the game, and it can be obtained after defeating Mohg, Lord of Blood.

1 Blasphemous Blade

elden ring blasphemous blade

The Blasphemous Blade is one of the best weapons in Elden Ring. It is a Greatsword that deals physical fire damage. After every hit, the user regains health for damage dealt, which trivializes open world encounters and certain boss fights.

Its Ash of War, Taker’s Flames, is a long-range AOE attack that can safely hit both single enemies and large groups. Despite a lack of elite scaling, these two traits are more than enough to consider it among the best Elden Ring has to offer. The Blasphemous Blade can be obtained after defeating Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy in Mt. Gelmir.
